The Big Reveal – Coco Kelley’s Master Bedroom

by Kim

Project Background

Today we’re excited to share the after photos of a very relatable design project. The completion of a room that was never quite finished. We all have this space in our homes. For some, that room is the guest bedroom. For others, like Cassandra (of popular design blog, Coco Kelley), it was her master bedroom. An ever-evolving, not quite finished space.

So, when we found out that window treatments were one of the last items on her master bedroom to-do list, we jumped at the chance to help her solve her window covering woes. Cassandra already had beautiful drapery panels, but functionally, they were just not working for her. She needed a solution that would provide room-darkening benefits and increase privacy.

Which brings us to the first phase of the project, the consultation.

The Design Consultation

Last November, Seattle-based Decorview designer, Cheri visited Cassandra’s home to help her find a solution. The only design requirement Cassandra had was she wanted a fabric that felt organic, something that would match the minimalist, yet warm design aesthetic of her bedroom.

After pouring over hundreds of samples and styles, Cheri helped Cassandra narrow down her selection to Hunter Douglas Provenance Woven Woods Shades. And to keep these beauties from letting in unwanted light, Cheri recommended a blackout liner to help darken the room at night.

With the fun details nailed down, it was time to discuss the window treatment’s functionality. Being a master bedroom, privacy was a concern, however having the shades drawn 24/7 to avoid prying eyes didn’t sound appealing. So, Cheri recommended the Top-Down/Bottom-Up feature. This would allow Cassandra’s woven shades to be positioned anywhere within the window.

Are you ready for the final reveal?

The Beautiful Results

When we asked Cassandra what she loved most about her new window treatments, she said the warmth/texture they provided behind her bed and the ability to position them anywhere within the window was a TOTAL GAME-CHANGER.
